HAMMONTON—In celebration of St. Joseph Academy Athletic Programs, the school will be having their fourth annual 5K and one mile fun run/walk on October 27.
Registration is at 10 a.m. and the 5K and one mile fun run/walk will start at 11 a.m.
Registration costs $30 online before the event or $35 day of event.
“This fundraiser is exclusively going to benefit Wildcat Athletics. To make sure we’re benefitting all of our athletes, all of our sports, we’re going to use money raised to offset the cost of athletic transportation,” St. Joseph Academy President and Head of School Stephen Cappuccio said.
All ages are welcome to sign up for the 5K and one mile fun run/walk.
Runners and walkers will receive a free T-shirt, and St. Joseph Academy will be giving out great prizes and gift certificates from local restaurants and merchants.
There will be 5K race awards for first, second and third overall (male and female) and first place age groups (male and female) 14 and under, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59 and 60 and over.
Director of Advancement Melissa Chesebro said the 5K event a great chance to support the athletic programs at St. Joseph Academy.
“They’ll be running around the school up Peach Street. They’ll be crossing over Valley [Street], and then they will have to run down Valley [Street] and then they’ll loop back around on Grape Street,” Chesebro said.
The one mile fun walk will take off after the runners.
For the one mile fun walk, walkers will start on Peach Street, turn on Valley Street, walk on Grape Street then turn on Packard Street back to Peach Street.
According to Chesebro, so far 30 people are registered for the race.
