Cherished mother, grandmother, and friend, Roslyn Westley entered into rest from her home in Branson on Sunday, August 18, 2024. Roslyn, known by everyone as Roz, was the beloved daughter of Sidney (Sid) & Tess (Cagno) Meltzer, and born in Brooklyn, N.Y. She was raised in Hammonton, N.J. before moving with her family to Palm Springs, Ca. in 1960. Roz helped operate a retail store along with her parents in Palm Springs, Ca. for 32 years. Palm Springs was the summer retreat for many Hollywood stars, and Roz got to meet and socialize with many of them, including Elvis of whom she was a huge fan. It was at the El Mirdor Hotel, in the Safari Lounge, she fell in love with the lounge band’s guitarist, Harold Westley.
They were married on February 25, 1964 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Roz was a woman of generosity and a supporter of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
When Harold passed away in 1993, Roz and her mom, Tess, took a two-week vacation to Branson which led to moving to Branson in 1994 and making Branson her home until her passing. Roz operated the Red Garter along with her mom and loved the relationships with her customers and the Branson entertainment community.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Sidney & Tess; her husband, Harold; and eight cousins; (Roz was the last of the original 8 cousins). Roz will be deeply missed by her son, Brett Westley of Branson; two grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
Roz was entombed at Forest Lawn Cemetery & Mausoleum in Cathedral City, Ca. on August 22, 2024. Arrangements were in the care of Snapp-Bearden Funeral Home and Crematory in Branson, MO.
