Linda Aileen (Streitfeld) Johnson

Linda Aileen (Streitfeld) Johnson, 66, of North Wales, Pa., and formerly of Hammonton, N.J., died peacefully on Wednesday, November 6, 2024, at Jefferson Lansdale Hospital. Born in Atlantic City, N.J., Linda was raised in Hammonton and spent most of her life there. She also had lived in Lancaster, Pa., Philadelphia, Pa., Egg Harbor City, N.J., Bensalem, Pa., Elmhurst, Ill., and Blue Bell, Pa. Linda and her husband, Steve, had recently celebrated their 43rd wedding anniversary. They first met when they were working in the college library at Drexel University in Philadelphia. They enjoyed traveling together, eating out, attending music concerts and the theater, and managing their menagerie at home which, in addition to the dogs and cats, also included at one time or another a cockatiel, a hamster, and guinea pigs.

Linda graduated from Hammonton High School in 1976 as the class salutatorian. She briefly attended Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster, Pa., and transferred to Drexel University, where she graduated in 1981 with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology-Sociology-Anthropology and a minor in Business. She earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting in 1985 at Stockton University in Pomona, N.J. She sat for and passed the CPA certification exam in 1988. Linda worked for many years as a Certified Public Accountant for several small businesses and public accounting firms serving small businesses and farms in Atlantic, Camden and Cumberland counties in southern New Jersey. She had helped establish the Income Control department at Harrah’s at Trump Plaza Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City when it opened in 1984. She also prepared tax returns for family and friends at no charge. Linda had assisted Judge Nelson C. Johnson in the early stages of research for his book, “Boardwalk Empire,” published in 2002. She was forced to take early retirement on disability about eight to 10 years ago due to the ill effects of early-onset Alzheimer’s dementia.

Linda was predeceased by her parents, Mary (Nardo) Streitfeld and Dr. Leonard “Doc” Streitfeld of Hammonton; and her brother, Dr. Stephen E. Streitfeld (Andrea) of Hammonton. She was also predeceased by her beloved pets, dogs Fluffy, Cassie, Sheeba, Muffin, Tina, Bandit, Rooby and Grace, and cats Morris, Sasha, Snowball, Vi and Sadie. Most of her pets were rescues. She is survived by her beloved husband, Stephen D. Johnson, of North Wales, Pa.; children, Christopher R. Johnson (Elizabeth) of Mukilteo, Wash., and Melissa A. Bierman (Jacob) of Harleysville, Pa.; brother, Richard L. Streitfeld, of Huntington Beach, Calif.; brother-in-law, Garvin R.
