Evelyn Dorothy DeStefano

Evelyn Dorothy DeStefano, 83, of Hammonton, N.J. passed away peacefully at Inspira in Vineland, N.J. with her son by her side on Saturday September 21, 2024. She was born and raised in Hammonton, N.J. and graduated from St. Joseph HS Class of 1959. Dottie started her career at 13 years old waitressing at Scaffidi’s Colonial Diner for her uncle Danny through the years. She also worked at Scaffidi’s Diner in Northfield for her cousin Skip Scaffidi and the Egg Harbor City Diner. Dottie retired from the Silver Coin Diner after many years of service and went to work for family friends for a number of years at Inferrera’s Market. She was a devoted member of St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Parish. The family would also like to thank Dr. Belli and his staff for such care and concern over the many years.

She is predeceased by her parents, James and Evelyn Scaffidi; her husband, Alex DeStefano Sr.; daughter, Evelyn DeStefano; brother, James Scaffidi Jr.; and sister, Patricia Martinez. Surviving, her son, Alex DeStefano Jr.; sister, Kathryn Renaud (Max); sister-in-law, Carol; and brother-in-law, Tony; and Aunt, Gloria Scaffidi. Special niece, Kathleen Christos, who was her caregiver for the last three years. She will be missed by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Relatives and friends were invited to attend her visitation on Wednesday September 25, 2024 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Marinella Funeral Home 102 N. Third St. Hammonton, NJ 08037. Services began at 11 a.m. at the Funeral Home. Burial followed in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, 248 S. First Rd. Hammonton, NJ.
