A Proud Milestone for Hammonton

Hammonton’s recent achievement in the New Jersey Graduation Proficiency Assessment (NJGPA) is a cause for celebration and pride for our entire community. With a remarkable 10 percent increase in students meeting the “Graduation Ready” benchmark in English Language Arts (ELA), rising from 79.8 percent in 2023 to an impressive 89.8 percent in 2024, surpassing the 2024 state average of 81.6 percent. This is a testament to the hard work, dedication, and effectiveness of our education system.

The NJGPA is a critical measure of our students’ readiness for graduation, evaluating their proficiency in both English Language Arts and Mathematics. This assessment not only reflects students’ abilities but also the collective efforts of educators, families and the community to support and nurture their academic growth. Meeting or exceeding the required graduation ready scores in both ELA and Mathematics is an integral part of the broader graduation requirements in New Jersey, which also encompass credits, curriculum, attendance and other assessments.

The 10 percent increase in ELA readiness is not just a statistic; it signifies a significant improvement in how well our students are prepared for their future endeavors. This achievement underscores the effectiveness of our schools’ curricula, the dedication of our teachers and the support systems in place that have collectively contributed to this success.

Our educators have employed innovative teaching methods, engaged with students in meaningful ways and provided the necessary resources to enhance learning outcomes.

Moreover, this accomplishment highlights the importance of continuous improvement and the positive impact of strategic educational initiatives. By focusing on enhancing literacy and communication skills, our schools are ensuring that students are not only meeting academic standards but are also equipped with the skills needed for future academic and professional success.

Our community should take immense pride in this progress. It reflects a shared commitment to educational excellence and a robust support system that encourages students to reach their full potential. As we celebrate this milestone, let us also recognize the collective effort involved—parents who support their children’s education, teachers who inspire and guide, and students who strive for excellence.

Moving forward, it is essential to build on this success and continue fostering an environment where students can thrive. By maintaining high standards and embracing innovative approaches to education, we will ensure that our students are not only graduation ready but also prepared to excel in all their future endeavors.

Congratulations to the students, educators and everyone involved in this achievement. Your hard work and dedication are shaping a brighter future for our community.
