For the second year in a row, The Hammonton Gazette has been named one of 11 Honorable Mentions to Editor & Publisher’s 10 Publishers That Do It Right list.
Back-to-Back National Award Winners!

It’s our honor to have The Gazette—and Hammonton—included in the winning of a national award that includes media outlets from throughout the country. Winning the award for the second year in a row is a high honor for our entire team.
That team includes you, our readers and advertisers. Thank you for your continued support of this newspaper. We wouldn’t be here without you.
That statement is equally true for our entire team: our owner, J. Louie Mullen, our Editor-in-Chief Gina Rullo and The Gazette staff: Sports Editor Dan Russoman, Lead Graphic Designer MarySusan Hoffman, staff members Jaime Wuillermin, Joseph F. Berenato, Mohammed Fuad, Donna Brown, Dan Bachalis, Betsey Karl, Jenn Bailey and all our many contributing columnists, writers and photographers. This award belongs to all of us. Thank you all for your hard work—and for making it fun to put out a nationally recognized newspaper each week.
Make no mistake: winning this award back-to-back says a lot about The Gazette, and a lot about Hammonton. Go read the names of the media outlets again, and the places they are from. We are on the same list as outlets like the ones above—from the largest to the smallest—it is a recognition of excellence.
The old saying in sports—one our sports editor has said many times—is “win like you’ve been there before.” It is humbling to win back-to-back, and while we won’t spike the ball in the end zone, we are all proud to be on a national award-winning team, and to have been recognized by our peers, in the national magazine that chronicles our industry: newspapers, broadcast media and digital media.
We are all honored that the work in journalism we all do at The Gazette, which we consider a public service, has been recognized with an Honorable Mention on this exclusive national list for a second straight year.
During the next year, we will continue to make every effort to move The Gazette into the Top 10.
We dream big here, as we continue to bring you the best newspaper and media outlet we possibly can.
After all, if they’re going to keep giving us national awards, we need to live up to them, don’t we?
Remember: The Hammonton Cancer Foundation (HCF) is running a subscription drive for The Gazette throughout April. A portion of the proceeds of the drive will go to the HCF.
Gabriel J. Donio is the publisher of The Hammonton Gazette.
